How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare:
Hospital Police OfficerProvides professional law enforcement services to the Carilion Clinic. These services include carrying out the objectives of the Clinic, the preservation of peace and protection of life and property, the prevention of crime and the enforcement of laws.

- Locates and investigates suspicious conditions and complaints by responding to calls and patrolling Carilion Clinic facilities for security breaches such as unlocked doors and open windows.
- Assists and coordinates with outside law enforcement agencies while they are interacting with hospital services, visitors, patients or staff.
- Guards and/or provides security for prisoners, mental health patients, special events, dignitaries and staff when a need is identified.
- Responds quickly and professionally to all calls for service involving traffic, criminal or non-criminal incidents and requests for information or assistance.
- Enforces laws, investigates crimes and processes crime scenes.
- Directs traffic while monitoring and enforcing parking regulations.
- Writes and files all required reports in a timely manner.
What We Require:
Education : High School or equivalent required.
Experience : No experience required, but previous law enforcement or security experience is preferred.
Licensure/Certification : (1) Has met Virginia minimum training standards for law enforcement officers and is currently certified as a law enforcement officer by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services, or; is eligible to attend and successfully complete such training within one year of being hired. (2) Valid Virginia driver's license required.
Other : Must possess a driving record within the scope of Carilion's Driver Regulations. Due to Virginia's state law, the applicant must be at least 21 years of age. Computer keyboarding skills. Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Meets Virginia's minimum requirements for law enforcement officers.
