About the Position

Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Policy & Advocacy creates and executes WFSA’s legislative and advocacy agenda, which is designed to ensure Arizona women and girls of all identities have the economic and social supports they need to be self-sufficient, achieve economic independence, and to thrive.

This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position with an annual salary of $70,000 with regular opportunities for review and enhancement.

While this position is currently remote, the final candidate’s primary residence must be within the state of Arizona. Regular presence at the Capitol in Phoenix during the legislative session (typically January-June/July).

About the Candidate

· You bring at least two (2) years of experience in a political or advocacy-related field; experience working with legislators or within the state Capitol highly desired.

· You have a bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, law, or a related field.

· You have a proven track record of advocating in a nonpartisan manner, effectively navigating the complexities of policymaking and collaborating with diverse stakeholders to achieve shared objectives.

· You are a strategic thinker and leader that contributes to the long-term sustainability of WFSA, fostering growth and impact across the organization.

· You have strong communication skills, including clear and concise content writing, comfort with public speaking, and the ability to convert research and data into common sense language.

· You have the ability to collaborate with 3rd party research institutions to further develop or create research initiatives that can better inform WFSA's Advocacy, innovative solutions, and grant-making efforts.

· You have an interest in staying up to date on research related to public policy, systemic advances for women, and best practices in policy and advocacy to keep WFSA at the forefront of change.

· You’re excited to engage advocacy coalition members and community partners via various channels to communicate advocacy priorities and provide direction and technical assistance as needed on how promote, share, and advocate for WFSA legislative priorities.

· You have the know-how to assist in growing WFSA’s Gender Equity Network, including recruiting members and organizations to join the statewide coalition, and coordinating speakers, trainings and presentations during virtual and in-person meetings.

· You are highly organized with strong attention to detail, able to complete tasks independently; demonstrated experience as a remote, independent worker preferred.

· You have experience with coalition and/or community building, planning, and facilitation.

· You possess a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; culturally competent with respect to issues such as racial, cultural, religious, sexual, and gender identity.

· You're a respectful and ethical representative of WFSA, embodying its values in all interactions.

· Your genuine passion for women's issues shines brightly, aligned with your unwavering dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

· You are proficient in standard office equipment including computers, Microsoft Office, and video conferencing applications with remote work experience
